Black Yellow red is Belguim.
Orange, white green is India
The two small ones are Australia and New Zealand
Canada is the red and white one.
Britain got involved in WW1, because the Germans went through Belguim, (crushing is the most accurate description) which the UK had a treaty with. (German high command didn't expect the British to fight.) Thus Britain was dragged into the war. Britain fought the war by then bringing in all her colonies. It later became a huge social/political issue as the whole Mother country/colony relationship changed overnight. In the trench warfare styler there were a number of battles in which the mentality was to just throw troops at a fortified objective until you either captured or ran out of troops. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of… often with pathetic gains.
